A French History
LIP is the first French watchmaker to develop the first French electronic watch. After more than 10 years of research with efficiency, passion and determination, LIP engineers have succeeded in developing this model of innovation. The main challenge was to achieve miniaturization of the components of the watch.
The prototype was presented by Fred Lip in 1952 at the Paris Academy of Sciences, it was the first stage for the development of quartz watches. In 1953, the British Watch-making Institute invited Fred Lip to present the electronic watch to the Royal Society of London.
In 1958, a GDG has been offered to general de Gaulle. He thanked Fred Lip : "To Mr Fred Lip, thanks to whom I measure hours which are limited".
