A French history
At LIP, since the end of the 1950s, quartz has been studied as a regulator. We are working hard to miniaturize and make a thin quartz tuning fork more reliable for a marketable wristwatch. In 1969, the first model of an analog quartz watch was ready and LIP deposited it at the Besançon Observatory. In 1970, Paul George, who collaborates with LIP in quartz research, will present the world's first transistor ladies' watch.
